One day after participating in the league's first major international competition, where the Central Basketball Association's All-Stars represented the United States versus the Canadian-based, North of the Border Basketball League, all twelve players for the CBA will be participating in the National Basketball League of Canada Pre-Draft Combine tomorrow in Orangeville, Ontario.
The National Basketball League of Canada (NBL-Canada) is Canada's largest professional basketball league, serving as the nation's version of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The league features eight teams from various cities in Eastern Canada: Windsor Express, Island Storm, Halifax Rainmen, St. John Mill Rats, Moncton Miracles, Brampton A's, London Lightning, and Mississauga Power. The NBL-Canada regular season consists of 32 games for each team and runs from the beginning of November to the end of February, with the post-season occuring in March and April.
The twelve players from the Central Basketball Association will be participating in a pre-draft combine in front of general managers, coaches, and scouts of all the NBL-Canada teams tomorrow morning and afternoon. Each of the players will be involved in a series of scrimmages, in which the top athletes will be eligible for the 2014 NBL-Canada Draft, which is set to occur tomorrow evening in Toronto. After playing in front of the NBL-Canada scouts last night in the game versus the Canadian All-Stars in Hamilton, Ontario, the twelve CBA All-Star players look to make a positive impression again in front of the Canadian professional league and hope to start their careers on the international level.
Out of the nine players the Central Basketball Association has helped placed abroad in the last twelve months, three players had been signed by Canadian teams. Last year, Alex Jackson (St. Louis Hawks) was selected by the St. John Mill Rats in the 3rd Round of the 2014 NBL-Canada Draft. A few weeks later, Jamal Crook (Bowling Green Hornets) was signed as a undrafted free agent by the Ottawa Skyhawks. And last month, Fred Sturdivant (Chattanooga Rail Runners) was signed by the NBL-Canada defending champions, Windsor Express.
The following are brief profiles on each of the twelve representatives of the CBA tomorrow at the NBL-Canada Pre-Draft Combine:
