At the culmination of a two-day combine in Canada this weekend, with over 150 players participating for the chance to be drafted by one of the eight NBL-Canada teams this evening, the top 40 players from the combine were deemed eligible by the league to be selected in the 2014 NBL-Canada Draft.

Of those 40 top players from this weekend, four players were chosen from the Central Basketball Association as eligible for the draft: Tyrell Hursey (Memphis Soul Kings), John Paul Nyadaro (Bowling Green Hornets), James Humphrey (Fort Wayne Flite), and Ronald Lucas III (Fort Wayne Flite).

From the forty-man player pool, 24 players were set to be drafted in Toronto tonight in a three round, eight-team format. And with the fifth pick of the second round, which was the 13th overall pick, the St. John Mill Rats selected John Paul Nyadaro from the Bowling Green Hornets.

The 6-9 forward, originally from Kenya, completed his first season with the Hornets, averaging over 12 points per game, over six rebounds per game, and two blocks per contest. Furthermore, in 2013 he completed his fourth and final year with Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, where he finished his career third in school history in blocked shots, as well as scoring over 1000 points during the course of his collegiate career.

Nyadaro becomes the 10th Central Basketball Association player to sign overseas in the last twelve months, including the seventh player from the Bowling Green Hornets organization. Furthermore, he becomes the second player in league history to be drafted in NBL-Canada, where Alex Jackson (St. Louis Hawks) was selected by the same St. John Mill Rats in third round of the 2013 NBL-Canada Draft.

Nyadaro will attend the team's mini-camp in October in an attempt to make the organization's 12-man roster, and upon doing so, will begin the regular season with his new club in November.
