Two weeks ago at the NBL-Canada Pre-Draft Combine, the top twenty participants were selected as all-stars and deemed eligible for the 2014 NBL-Canada Draft later that evening. Of those twenty players, four came from the Central Basketball Association, of which one was ultimately drafted in the second round by the Saint John Mill Rats (JP Nyadaro, Bowling Green Hornets).

The other three top CBA participants from that weekend: 6-foot-8 forward, James Humphrey (Univ. of Missouri-Kansas City) from the Fort Wayne Flite, 6-foot-5 forward, Tyrell Hursey (Victory University) from the Memphis Soul Kings, and 6-foot-4 guard Ronald Lucas III (Columbus State CC) also from the Fort Wayne Flite, have all generated interest from various clubs in the NBL-Canada and will be spending the next two weeks working out with some of the respective teams in the league. At the NBL-Canada Combine, the aforementioned three individuals put together great performances in each of their four assigned scrimmages, with each of them scoring in double-digits in three out of the four contests.

Furthermore, the interest has not been limited to these three players, as other participants from the CBA All-Star tour of Canada have also been invited to these workouts as well. The goal from these team-based tryouts is so that players can receive an invitation to the respective club's multi-week training camp in October. From there, players will seek to become part of the active twelve-man roster for the start of the NBL-Canada season in November.

Three players from the CBA have already been signed by clubs in NBL-Canada, ahead of the start of the 2014-2015 season. It is quite possible that, in the coming weeks, another name or two from the CBA may be picked up by one of the eight teams north of the border.

Since August of 2013, thirteen players from the Central Basketball Association have signed new international contracts. Eight of those players signed following the end of the 2014 season, including five in the last two weeks.
