The Central Basketball Association has assisted another league player to land an international playing opportunity, as Bowling Green Hornets' big-man, A'Darius Pegues (Campbellsville University), will be playing professional basketball south of the border.

The 6-foot-10 center was selected in the first round, fifth overall, of the Mexican Chihuahua Vive League Draft this afternoon, after putting together several spectacular performances on the court during the three-day pre-draft combine this weekend. He will begin training camp later this month, before starting the regular season in January 2015 with the team that drafted him, Centauros de Chihuahua, which is a new team in the league.

The Mexico Chihuahua Vive League Draft was a two-round event, in which each round consisted of nine selections by the member teams. The regional league operates from January to March, followed by Mexico's top-league, CIBACOPA, which occurs from April to June. Many players from the regional leagues ultimately transition to the top league at the conclusion of their respective seasons.

Pegues, who holds the record for most blocks in a CBA game with four, played in Slovakia during the late summer months, before spending the fall in Latvia, where he averaged 10.0 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game.

In the last two years, three CBA players have been drafted in North American competition: Alex Jackson (St. Louis Hawks, University of Missouri-St. Louis), who was selected in the 3rd Round (26th overall) of the 2013 NBL-Canada Draft, John Paul Nyadaro (Bowling Green Hornets, Trevecca Nazarene University), who was selected in the 2nd Round (13th overall) of the 2014 NBL-Canada Draft, and now, Pegues, with the first round (5th overall) selection in the 2014 Chihuahua Vive Mexico Draft.

21 international contracts have been offered to CBA players in the last two years, including 15 in the last six months.
