Earlier this year, the Central Basketball Association announced a partnership between the league and the Caribbean island of Saint Kitts & Nevis in an effort to expand the CBA's international network.

The expansion movement for the CBA continues progressing forward at an accelerated rate, as the league is proud to announce yet another partnership in the region - this time with the Caribbean island of Antigua and Barbuda

Beginning in January 2018, the CBA, in conjunction with officials from the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association, will send players to Antigua, as part of the CBA Global Opportunities Program.

There, these athletes will showcase their talents in front of representatives from all 10 of the nation's Division-I club teams, where a group of CBA players will subsequently be offered contracts to participate in the country's 2018 National League season, which runs from mid-January until the end of May.

These contracts for CBA players will include a modest salary, housing, meals, as well as the priceless experience of playing in an environment involving basketball, the beach, pleasant weather, and a tremendous Caribbean culture. Furthermore, the opportunity of playing overseas will aid aspiring CBA athletes to earn critical international experience in order to advance their careers for future seasons.

In exchange for Antigua providing legitimate opportunities for CBA athletes to earn professional contracts abroad, the CBA will help advance basketball in the region, by focusing on youth development through the Antiguan physical educational curriculum, as well as looking to improve the talent and skillset of the Antiguan national team. Furthermore, the CBA will further provide opportunities for local Antiguan athletes to receive opportunities to compete in the United States, whether through the CBA season in the Spring, or through tryouts with American colleges and universities.

With CBA athletes receiving contracts in the Caribbean, in exchange for basketball development in the region and opportunities for Caribbean athletes to compete in the States, this landmark partnership between the CBA and Antigua appears to be a win-win for all parties involved.

The CBA has had nearly 500 former and current college athletes participate in their season, leading to nearly 200 athletes receiving opportunities to play on international soil in the last five years. As the CBA's sixth year is set to begin in less than four months, with the 2018 regular season schedule expected to be released in December, the league is en route to becoming one of the most reputable entities in helping athletes advance to the next level of their careers.
