Eight league players arrive on Caribbean island of Antigua as part of CBA Global Opportunities Program

The much anticipated partnership between the Central Basketball Association and the Caribbean nation of Antigua & Barbuda began this weekend, as eight league players arrived on the island nation as part of the CBA Global Opportunities Program. 

The set of players will participate in two weeks worth of tryouts in an effort to earn a professional contract with one of the 10 Division-I teams in the Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association National League season, which is set to begin their season on January 21. 

The following are the list of players participating on the trip:

Jermaine Bolden: The 5-foot-10 guard from NCAA Division-I, Morgan State University, played in the 2017 CBA season with the Baltimore Shuckers, where in eight games of competition, averaged 14.0 points per game, shooting 45.3% from the field, 78.6% from the free throw line, and 39.5% from beyond the arc. Bolden also averaged 3.6 assists per game, 2.8 rebounds per game, and 1.0 steals per game, while also being named as a 2017 4th-Team All Star. Bolden scored in double-digits in six games last season, with his best performance against Illinois in the season opener with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. 

Damarius Smith: The 6-foot-2 guard from NCAA Division-I, Austin Peay State University, played in the 2017 CBA season with the Bowling Green Hornets, where in nine games of competition, averaged 11.4 points per game, shooting 52.9% from the field, and 33.3% from beyond the arc. Smith also averaged 3.7 assists per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, and 2.0 steals per game. Smith scored in double-digits in five games last year, with his best performance against Middle Tennessee with 18 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals. Smith also played in six games with Bowling Green in 2015 and seven games in 2016. 

Joshua Minner: The 6-foot-6 forward from NAIA Division-I, Mid-America Christian University, played in the 2015 CBA season with the Springfield Sentinels, where in nine games of competition, averaged 17.6 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, and 2.2 steals per game. Minner scored in double-digits in eight games, including four games with 20+ points, with his best performance against Bowling Green with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Minner participated in the CBA Global Opportunities Program tour of Brazil in 2015, where he subsequently signed a contract to play in Brazil in 2016. 

Torey Fassett: The 6-foot-6 forward, who played collegiate basketball in Canada at Saint Mary's University, participated in the 2017 season with the Baltimore Shuckers, where in eight games of competition, averaged 20.5 points per game, shooting 46.8% from the field, 68.8% from the free throw line, and 50.0% from beyond the arc. Fassett further averaged 10.8 rebounds per game and 2.8 steals per game, and was one of only four players during the 2017 CBA season that averaged double-figures in both points per game and rebounds per game. He scored in double-digits in all eight games he played in, including four games with at least 25 points, and four games in double-digits in both points and rebounds, with his best performance of the season against Bowling Green with 26 points, 22 rebounds, and 2 steals. Fassett was named as a 1st-Team CBA All Star last season, as he was in the Top-5 in scoring, rebounding, and steals. 

Benny Iko: The 6-foot-7 forward, who played collegiate basketball in Canada at the University of Winnipeg, participated in the 2017 season with the Baltimore Shuckers, where in seven games of competition, averaged 9.3 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game, and 1.3 blocks per game. Iko scored in double-digits four times during the season, including three double-doubles, with his best performance of the season against Indianapolis with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks. 

Isaac Bragg: The 6-foot-5 guard played in the 2017 season with the Bowling Green Hornets, where in seven games of competition, averaged 2.9 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game. Bragg's best performance of the season came against Middle Tennessee with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Bragg participated in the 2016 CBA Global Opportunities Program tour of Taiwan. 

Brandon Williams: The 6-foot guard, who played collegiate basketball at NCAA Division-I University of Evansville, played in six games with the Bowling Green Hornets during the 2014 season, where he averaged 1.3 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per game, with his best performance against Fort Wayne with 4 points and 4 rebounds. 

Yahshua Perez: The 6-foot-1 guard, who played collegiate basketball at Middlesex Community College, was the league's sole non-CBA invitee on this year's CBA Global Opportunities Program Tour to Antigua. In 2016, Perez played international basketball in Spain.
