At the beginning of this week, eight players representing the Central Basketball Association traveled to the Caribbean island of Antigua to seek an opportunity to earn a roster spot in the 2018 Antiguan National League season, which is scheduled to commence next weekend and continue until the end of May.

After three days of productive, positive, and successful workouts and scrimmages in front of the coaches and representatives from all 10 Division-I clubs, all eight players have been acquired by four of the teams for the upcoming season.

The 2017 Division-I league runners-up, Flyers, who finished the regular season with a 13-3 record, selected guard Damarius Smith (Bowling Green) and forward Torey Fassett (Baltimore).

The 2017 Division-I semifinalists, F&G Trading Cuties Oval Ojays, who finished the regular season with a 12-4 record, selected guard Jermaine Bolden (Baltimore).

The 2017 Division-II champions, Potters Steelers, who were promoted to Division-I for the 2018 season, selected two forwards: Benny Iko (Baltimore) and Joshua Minner (Springfield).

Finally, Ottos Full Throttle, who finished last season with a 5-11 record and lost in the opening round of the postseason, selected three guards: Isaac Bragg (Bowling Green), Brandon Williams (Bowling Green), and Yahshua Perez.

The regular season will begin on January 21 with games being broadcasted live every Sundays on the Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association website at http://antiguabasketball.com.
