Registration opened this morning for all players scheduled to participate in the upcoming 2018 Central Basketball Association season, as well as those that were interested as prospective athletes in the CBA's offseason activities.

Pursuant to the registration rules highlighted through http://www.playcba.com/transactions2018, which will update automatically as individuals register prior to and during the season, each team will carry a minimum roster of eight players and a maximum of 15 players for the upcoming season.

The deadline for registering for the opening weekend games will be Wednesday, March 14, with the first game of the season tipping off on Saturday, March 24. Thereafter, for mid-season registrants, the deadline to be eligible for an upcoming weekend's games will be on the Wednesday night preceding said weekend's games. In order to be eligible for the postseason, a team must have a player registered by Wednesday, April 25, which is prior to the last weekend of the regular season. The postseason tournament is set for May 5 and May 6 in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Last year, for example, Gregory Foster, registered with the league upon his return from Saudi Arabia prior to the last weekend of the season, where he then proceeded to average 20.0 points per game 7.0 assists per game, leading Fort Wayne to its second consecutive championship title.

Players who have made the final rosters of their respective teams will register as 2018 CBA Season Players, while those that have not made a final roster, but still would like to keep their names in the system for mid-season opportunities, or be involved in the CBA's offseason activities, will register as 2018 CBA Prospective Athletes.

Offseason activities will include an opportunity to participate in the CBA Global Opportunities Program, where this past January, eight players who enrolled in the Caribbean portion of the program earned roster spots in local clubs within the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association. Only players that have registered with the league as part of the 2018 CBA Season, or as prospective athletes, will be eligible for these future international opportunities during the 2018-2019 offseason.

Currently, some of the league's teams, such as Indianapolis and Memphis have already conducted their team tryouts, while others such as Baltimore and Bowling Green will be hosting opportunities for a roster spot this weekend on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4, respectively.

As of the end of the 2017 calendar year, over 1,000 individuals had registered with the CBA as prospective players. To register as a CBA player for the 2018 season, or to register as a prospective athlete for the 2018 calendar year, visit http://www.playcba.com/registration
