Fort Wayne uses late 4th quarter offensive push against Illinois to remain undefeated and avoid potential upset

FORT WAYNE 95, ILLINOIS 86: (Fort Wayne, Ind.) - In a matchup between the expansion, Illinois, and the defending champions, Fort Wayne, it was the visitors who made their mark early, leading after the first period by six points, 27-21. But Fort Wayne stepped up their defense in the second quarter, limiting Illinois to just 14 points in the frame. After the game became tighter in the third quarter, as Fort Wayne's lead was cut to two, the hosts put Illinois away in the final 10 minutes to win by nine. The last time the Fort Wayne lost a regular season home game was in April 2014. Since then, Fort Wayne has won a league-record 14 consecutive home games. Fort Wayne (4-0), who wrapped up their four game homestand to start the season, was led by Corey Wickware with 20 points and Antonio Cannon with 18 points. Illinois (2-3), who remains winless on the road this season, was led by Tyron Criswell with 28 points and Kashif Watson with 19 points. Both teams will face each other in a rematch next Sunday afternoon in Danville, Illinois.
