This weekend, former Bowling Green Hornets head coach and former Harlem Globetrotter, Otis Key, officially became the new Women's Basketball Head Coach at Volunteer State Community College in Nashville, Tenn.

Key served as the Hornets' head coach during the 2013 inaugural season, compiling a 4-3 career record with the team. After the season, Key left the club upon receiving his first high school coaching position at South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Ky. Now, after one season with the high school, Key is advancing in the coaching ranks, as he obtains his first career collegiate coaching position, as he joins the Volunteer State program.

Before proceeding into the coaching field, Key played three years at NCAA Division-I Austin Peay State University during the mid-1990s. After graduation, Key began playing professional basketball in the Canary Islands, as a member of the Spanish League, where he was named the 1996-1997 Spanish League Rookie of the Year. Following the 1997-1998 season, Key joined the Harlem Globetrotters and during his ten year stint with the organization, he traveled to over thirty countries across the globe.

One of the primary goals of the Central Basketball Association is to provide the foundation, template, and assistance to individuals to successfully advance to the next stages of their professional careers. The Central Basketball Association is proud to announce that after participating in this league, either through pacing the sidelines or playing on the court, eight players have obtained new international contracts, one CBA coach received his first high school coaching contract, and now Key becomes the first former CBA coach to receive his first college coaching position.
